Our committee is complete! Please allow me to introduce three unique (and quite frankly) brilliant individuals that Hope and I are delighted to welcome to the student and new professional committee — Anita, Dave, and Claire! They have volunteered to contribute their time, ideas, and talents to help expand our international public history student and new professional network. Together we have big plans and collaborations in store and we need YOU to help us along. Please be sure to follow us on Twitter @ifphstupro and/or Facebook. Soon we will be asking you, your fellow students, and colleagues — from all corners of the globe— to help keep our international community informed about public history projects, events, and opportunities in your area. Anita Lucchesi, Communications Co-coordinator
Anita holds a master’s degree in comparative history 
from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), with digital history as the mainspring of her MA dissertation. Before beginning her graduate studies, she worked in the cultural industry as a web writer, social media planner, and manager of campaigns for theater, cinema, producers, and communication agencies. For a period of three years she also acted as a history teacher in a government preparatory course in the state of Rio de Janeiro (Pré-Vestibular Social). In 2013, during her graduate work, Anita’s monograph on the relation between history and new media won a prize to be published by the Brazilian Society for Theory of History and Historiography. The same year, she became involved in the organization of the Brazilian History Network for Public History and its Second International Symposium on Public History. Recently, she participated in the “National Program of Textbook” (Programa Nacional do Livro Didático, Ministério da Educação), as a consultant for the Brazilian Ministry of Education, evaluating digital educational supplements for collections of history textbooks distributed for public schools in Brazil in 2014/15. In 2014, Anita was the responsible historian for the crowdsourcing @Rio450 project of the City Council of Rio the Janeiro, a commemorative project for the 450th anniversary of the city, celebrated in March 2015. Additionally, she is a researcher at the Group of Current History Studies (Grupo de Estudos do Tempo Presente) at the Federal University of Sergipe and editor of the Cadernos do Tempo Presente. Since 2008, intrigued by discussions on digital history and public history, she maintains a blog dedicated to the topic in Portuguese: Historiografia na Rede. Beginning in September of this year, Anita will pursue her PhD in history with a special emphasis on digital history at the University of Luxembourg.

Dave Earl, Communications Co-coordinator
Dave is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at the University of Sydney, 
based in the Race and Ethnicity in the Global South Research Collaboration. He teaches history in the Faculty of Education and Social Work’s Indigenous Education Program. Dave’s research interests include histories of youth, gender, welfare, education and disability. His dissertation is titled “Help Us/Help Them: How Australian parents understood the problem of mental retardation, and what they did about it, 1945-1970.” Dave has a long engagement with public history, having been informally associated with the Australian National Maritime Museum for almost twenty years. He has previously sat on the Executive Committee of the Australian Historical Association, where he managed the Association’s social media presence. He is currently a non-executive councillor on the New South Wales History Council. Dave is a Director of Consulting Historian Pty Ltd, a boutique heritage consultancy and brand management firm founded in 2013.
Claire Hayward, Ambassador Coordinator
Claire is a final year PhD student in the History Department at Kingston University, 
London. Her thesis, entitled ‘Representations of Same-Sex Love in Public History’, analyses the state of public history institutions, the historic environment and digital history in telling the histories of the LGBTQ past. Claire also completed her BA in History and MA in Early Modern History at Kingston University. Her MA focused on the history of gender and women in the eighteenth-century, and she completed a thesis on the social history of female prostitution in Britain. Claire took on an internship at Lion Television whilst completing her MA, where she worked as a Developer and Researcher in History and Special Projects. Claire was also researcher and presenter on the public history project Kingston Heritage Trails. She is social media coordinator for Cultural Histories@Kingston, co-editor of History@Kingston, and writes her own blog on exploring public histories. Claire is also an Associate of the Raphael Samuel History Centre and co-convenor for the Institute of Historical Research’s History of Sexuality Seminar.
